TR-07
Challenges in measuring cooking vessel internal temperatures
A review of devices used in an attempt to measure pot internal temperatures while avoiding excess heat loss due to lid gaps.
TR-09.1
A system for standard power measurements of solar cookers
This report documents instrumentation requirements, selected products and preliminary measurements made in compliance with this standard. Heating tests of several solar cookers were conducted to establish repeatability of temperature measurements. Sources of variation were identified and mitigation strategies were developed. This experience will be useful in continuing work aimed at refining a protocol for the ISO standard and for constructing automated systems for solar cooker testing.
TR-31
Measuring Solar Irradiance with a Sun Tracker
The ISO-19867-1 standard for solar cooker power measurements specifies that available solar energy shall be measured in the plane perpendicular to direct beam radiation.” This requires pointing the pyranometer toward the Sun during the measurements. This Technical Report describes a sun tracker system driven by a Arduino servo controller to provide tracking.
TR-38
A simplified method for determining standard power of solar cookers using low-cost instruments
This report describes a method for measuring standard solar cooker power with low-cost commercial instruments. A previous Technical Report, TR-17, concluded that a low-cost lux meter can be used in place of a pyranometer for measuring solar irradiance. This report combines a lux meter into a complete package of common instruments for measuring power in accordance with international standards, provided proper calibrations and procedures are followed.
